Testimonials

The MSL of The Year Awards recognize excellence within the MSL profession, and are part of the mission of the MSL Society to help those in our profession excel in their careers. The inaugural awards were a big success, and we have decided to make it an annual event.

Dr. Samuel Dyer

CEO , MSL Society

It was a humbling experience for the judges to read about what the finalists have accomplished and contributed to our industry and profession, along with how valuable they are to their associates and customers. There is no bigger honor than to be recognized by peers, and it’s awesome that the MSL Society, a not-for-profit organization, put on a special evening to celebrate individuals who were definitely worthy of these awards.

Dr. Arthur Chan

Executive Director, Head of MSL capabilities , Novartis

Being recognized in a peer evaluation program is a highlight in anyone’s career. Congratulations to all the inaugural winners from the MSL Society awards program. It was an honor to asked to be a judge for such prestigious awards.

Dr. Ralph Rewers

Medical Science Liaison Head , Abbvie

Winning the MSL manager of the year (US) award has been a very humbling experience. Managers are most often in the background showcasing the successes of their teams and direct reports.  That is our role, and the area where most of us are comfortable.  Although I thoroughly enjoy celebrating the successes of others – this has been a unique and wonderful experience.  That is not to say that I am not frequently acknowledged by my leadership for my efforts, but in my MSL management experience there has not been a formal award process for a manager.  Winning the inaugural MSL manager of the year award is validation that I am doing a good job for those that have put their trust in me.

Mary Lynn Lakin, RN, OCN, MBA

Regional MSL Director, Central Region Global Medical Affairs, Takeda Oncology

If being an MSL is an aspiration, never give up on your goal. Winning the MSL Rookie of the Year ( outside US) Award has given me great joy and confidence in my role.

Debra Payne, PharmD

Sr Medical Advisor, Medical Aesthetics, Allergan Inc.

Winning the MSL of the Year Award (Outside the US), for me, means the recognition of many years living a very intense passion for the position of MSL. I have always believed that our position is vital and necessary within the pharmaceutical industry. I have spent many years working as a MSL and trying to convey the essence of the role in different forums (MSL lectures, Master Classes, MBA sessions, specific MSL talks, coordination and participation in work groups to improve our position, etc). This recognition has made me very happy and I hope to continue working with great enthusiasm in the different projects we have underway. There is still a lot to be done.

Victor Sastre, MS

Sr MSL, Amgen

Winning this award was a complete surprise yet represents a symbol of appreciation from my peers and healthcare professionals. Being the “MSL Rookie of the Year (US) ” is an honor and gives me motivation to help those who are pursuing this career path. It’s truly a rewarding profession and am grateful that the MSL Society supports our success.

Monica Bolton, PhD

MSL, Teva Pharmaceuticals

Winning the “MSL of the Year- U.S” has been a culmination of my passion for medicine coupled with a strong belief that physicians value “clinicians” and the expertise they bring to them for making well informed decisions for their patients. This belief is predicated on the “evidence based medicine” as the benchmark and having a continuum of dialogue on the latest evolution of data in their respective specialty. I have enjoyed working directly with physicians in many specialties to impact healthcare and ultimately make a remarkable impact on the lives of patients. The award signifies Excellence as an Medical Science Liaison and I am honored to be the inaugural recipient of this award.he Year (US) ” is an honor and gives me motivation to help those who are pursuing this career path. It’s truly a rewarding profession and am grateful that the MSL Society supports our success.

How are the applications evaluated and the winners determined?

Each award category requires four letters of recommendations from a KOL or Direct Report, a Manager, a Peer, and a Cross-Functional Team member to be submitted as part of the application. During the month long evaluation and review period, each judge will independently evaluate the four letters of recommendations and the introspective questions on a scale from 1 to 10. The awards platform will determine the winners based on the total scores from each judge. The highest scoring application in each award category is the winner.

Importantly, all individual judging results are blinded which means no judges will know how their fellow judges have scored an application. As a result, none of the judges will know who has won in any category until the winners are announced during the Awards Night Celebration on September 4th, 2019 from 7pm – 9pm at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas.
